Juneau Projects - The Principalities

The gruesome twosome from Birmingham Juneau Projects recently opened their new show "The Principalities" at Kingston's Stanley Picker Gallery. Transforming the space into a bar-come-comedy club-come-live music venue-come-backstage area, I have never seen the gallery look so inviting and engaging! Mixing live work and installation in various different combinations, their work focuses on people and folk histories, and in this exhibitions case - a lot of animals and crests.
"The Principalities constitutes a series of intricately designed stages each with a specific theme or genre, akin to the arrangement of stages and tents at music festivals. "
The programme of events will see the duo collaborating with different artists, students, groups and members of the public, drawing on traditional customs such as Karaoke, Morris Dancing, Pub Quizzes but adapting them to contemporary themes.

TURNHURST will be performing as part of these events on Wednesday 14th January 2009
