Congratulations!

Well done to the excellent Kate MccGwire, her incredible piece "Vex" has won her a solo show at next years Concrete & Glass Festival. Curated by Flora Fairbairn and Paul Hitchman, Heart of Glass was the crowning glory of the new festival. Artists were asked to submit work that responded to the atmosphere of Shoreditch Town Hall's basement. 33 artists were chosen from an all star panel including Marc Quinn, Gavin Turk, Rachel Campbell-Johnston, Paul Hobson, Irene Bradbury and Philippa Adams.

There was a lot of great work, but from my experience of working at the show, I think everybody who came through the door was thrilled by MccGwires work.
"Vex" is a deserving winner.

The award comes almost exactly a year after Kate's studio (and most of its contents) were destroyed by fire. Very little survived, with the exception of the pigeon feathers used to make her winning piece. I'm so glad they did and she made it!
