I worked at the PV for this show @ Campbell Works recently. The show is a four week exhibition of objects, installations, photography and video by Nat Breitenstein, Samuel Dowd, Martina Schmuecker and NaoKo TakaHashi. The show relates to past and future performances and what becomes of the objects used in the performances. What do they become when they have been taken out of the performance and placed in a gallery? Stripped of their initial purpose the works gain a new presence and become something different to what once was intended.
On the opening night Martina Schmuecker performed "Colour Fight", a work where two artists arm wrestle covered in yellow and blue paint over paper. The result is green, the mixture ofthe two colours and of the artists actions.
There is also a screening night of films and videos and with live music. Showing is work by Nat Breitenstein, Spartacus Chetwynd, Samuel Dowd, Nathan Parker and NaoKo TakaHashi and a silent film featuring Karl Valentin'. Live music comes from Juan Carlode with Bambiforinidi, Graeme Swindon with Terenceh Kirkbride and Lisa Sellik.
