The last comic>film crossover is Kick-Ass, a close mixture between goof-ball 'SuperBad' comedies and ultra-violent 'Kill Bill'. Based on the marvel comic book by Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr, the film follows the story of teenager Dave Lizewski who sets out to become a real life superhero, only to find himself in a much bigger fight. Fed up of not being able to help people, and not wanting to carry on standing by when crimes occur, Lizewski gets his outfit, sets up a myspace and thanks to youtube and a street brawl, becomes a big hit. He quickly teams up with Big Daddy and his ruthless vigilante daughter Hit-Girl and becomes embroiled in their quest to bring down evil drug lord Frank D'Amico (and his son, superhero Red Mist).
It's a funny, charming film, and has a lightness that a lot of these comic book/film crossovers fail to have. Nicholas Cage plays a rather strange part (as Big Daddy) but I can't fault the other performances.
