Cale 4 Wale(s) ?

Thanks to the Guardian I discovered John Cale is representing Wales at next years Venice Biennale. Musician, composer, singer-songwriter and producer he's best known as a founding member of The Velvet Underground. Speaking about the prestigious task Cale said;

"It offers an occasion to address certain pernicious issues in my background that had lain dormant for so long, there are certain experiences uniquely suited to the exorcism of mixed media and I am grateful for this opportunity to address them."

He'll be collaborating with artists, filmmakers, and poets, he intends to focus his work on his relationship with the Welsh language. It'll be exhibited in the Capannone space at the Ex-Birreria (old brewery building on the island of Giudecca) from June 7th to November 22nd 2009.

Shamefully (?) i didn't even know that he was Welsh!
