The work references a work by Duchamp ("First Papers of Surrealism"). We work simultaneously from each end, using one ball of wool. We take the work out to public places where what we are doing is seen as both ordinary and puzzling. The work is given its meaning as much by the people who stop to talk with us as it is by the two of us who are performing the knitting. We are often asked if we are knitting a scarf; the reality is that we are discovering what the knitted work is as we go along. Its not the finished result that we're interested in, but the act of doing.
2 weeks ago we finished.
