Went to a talk by the photographer (and fellow Welshman) Peter Fraser. It was a great insight to his work (which i'd previously not known of, but should of) and to how he works. His work in colour was groundbreaking and much of it can be likened to the master of colour; William Eggleston (who he lived and worked with). He is interested in the essence of photography, and what the subject has to do with the image - how do they link to eachother and why do they? What does a photograph to do the subject it is of? He has had a lot of residencies and has done a lot of work in and around science laboratories. The photo above is part of the "Deep Blue" series, where he took beautiful portraits (not photographs) of robots, treating them as humans. The title coming from the computer that famously beat chess world champ Gary Kasparov, his work nods towards the future and what we may achieve.He also mentioned that this film was a major influence, which is brilliant.
